Office Professionals Breakfast | 5th May 2017

Office Professionals Breakfast | 5th May 2017

All Office Professionals should be celebrated, especially when it is the national day of celebration!

To celebrate this years national day of Office Professionals I was honoured to have been asked to attend The Office Professionals Breakfast, run by Great Expectation Speakers and Trainers at the Brisbane City Hall.

What a way to spend your morning!

The grand entrance of the Brisbane City Hall is enough to build excitement however, after walking through the doors and seeing a glimpse of what was to come was nothing short of a great experience.

There were plenty of pre breakfast activities to do including seeing fabulous sponsors of the event.

Entertainment, Inspiration and Motivation

Along with a great MC (Ed Phillips) and Those Tap Guys, Zelda la Grange was the keynote speaker. She shared her experiences and lessons learnt from 19 years as Presidential Aide to Nelson Mandela.

Born in apartheid South Africa, Zelda started her career in 1992. She was soon promoted to become one of the three Private Secretaries in President Mandela’s personal staff. In 1999, he requested that she remain in his services beyond retirement. Zelda served Mr Mandela for 19 years in different capacities until his death on 5 December 2013. In 2014 Zelda published her memoirs entitled ‘Good Morning, Mr Mandela’. It’s a story about her time as Presidential Aide to Nelson Mandela. Earlier this year, Maven Pictures obtained the rights for the movie adaptation.

Her unique outlook on life, inspired by one of the greatest men of our time, was nothing short of captivating. Through her stories Zelda shared anecdotes of her experiences to convey lessons related to discipline, leadership, respect, integrity, honesty and transparency. It gave even more insight into what a magnificent man Nelson Mandela was.

Stay Tuned for next year’s event

Overall, I absolutely loved this breakfast event and love taking the time out from a hectic morning to network among peers.

Be sure to pop over to the Office Professionals Breakfast website and sign up to receive updates for the next events. I promise you, you won’t want to miss it!

I hope to see you there!

About the Office Professionals Breakfast

The inaugural Office Professionals Breakfast was held in Brisbane on Friday, 1st May 2015 and was a tremendous success. Now in its third year, 2017 is a highly anticipated event amongst the business community. The event recognises and rewards the hard working Office Professionals of Brisbane. There really was no recognition for them – until now!

The Breakfast has previously featured guest speakers, Miguel Maestre and Chrissie Swan. Entertainers have included Casey Barnes and international superstar Dami Im. Award-winning journalist and presenter Madonna King, and former AFL great Richard Champion have hosted the event, along with TV presenter Ed Phillips.

“In our work at Great Expectation we know many dedicated office professionals who put in the hard yards, and we’ve always thought this should be recognised. The Breakfast is a way for CEO’s and management to acknowledge the role office professionals do”
